In this class our class usually work on the same books together. This class helps me increase my vocabulary, and inspires me to read more.
Course Description
Students in eight grade focus on reading comprehension and vocabulary development. Through the study of different written works, students will learn how to identify figurative language and dissect its meaning. In addition, students will be given strategies on how to compare and contrast the different elements of different materials. Students will build listening, silent reading, and oral reading skills. Studies will come from short passages found in the Bridges to Literature textbook, but also from various novel studies. Students will begin with a novel study on The Giver, followed by a study on My Brother Sam is Dead, which will then be followed by a reading of The Diary of Anne Frank. For others a novel study on The Cat Ate My Gymsuit will be a part of their eight grade curriculum. Through the study of literary analysis, students will become knowledgeable and successful literary critics. In addition to classwork, students will be expected to read daily at home and submit a Book Report at the end of every month. Students most look forward to using their skills as readers to read to their first grade Little Buddy whom they are mentors for.

In 8th grade reading, we are currently reading the book : Anne Frank. Each trimester we read one long novel or book. In first trimester we read The Giver. In 2nd trimester we read about My Brother Sam is Dead. Anne Frank i believe is about a young girl who was in the holocost. Where Hitler killed many many jews and tried to take over the world. Course Description
Students in eight grade study the organization of written works. They will construct a variety of written works that involve both analysis and research. In addition, students will compare different written works to conceptualize the difference between fact and opinion. Using this study, students will incorporate their understanding into their own written works. The focus will be on writing persuasive, technical, and response to literature compositions this year. In all written compositions, students will go through the Writer's Process and then submit some in person and others online through a program called MyAccess. In addition to written compositions, students will focus on spelling, grammar, and presentation skills.
Welcome to Ronny Doan's Wikispace! In this page i will be talking about the things that goes on in Ms. Kwon's class. The homework we usually do is Spelling and journals. Spelling helps increase the mind's vocabulary. Every Wednesday spelling is due, and every thursday we have a spelling test. For journals, we ALWAYS do journals every single day. Journals is used just to talk about student's lives, what they do everyday, and what they learn. We have something called a Redgroup. Redgroup is for students who barely knows english. In this class, we are currently working on a science project. This science project will help us students work on how to do our own experiments and more.
Course Description
Students in grade eight study the different elements and the types of reactions they undergo in the Chemistry portion of our class. Students will work with different substances to experience firsthand the physical and chemical changes they undergo. In addition, students will be introduced to the periodic table and begin to use it for their scientific development. After students have learned the chemistry of living things, they will move into the Physics portion of Physical Science. Students will learn how different variables affect different factors such as speed, acceleration, velocity and energy. As a culminating activity, students will create their own race cars using their knowledge of forces and motion to build a car that will go the furthest and quickest. By conducting different experiments, students will develop their skills in scientific experimentation, investigation, and analysis.
Welcome to Ronny Doan's wikispace! In Ms.Kwon's science class, we usually work on science labs. Every lesson in a chapter, Ms. Kwon makes us do notes. She tells us about the lesson and what it is about. Usually after the lesson, she would call random names and ask us to answer questions on the lesson. Honestly, I think taking notes help me on science tests. I don't even need to study, I just remember things that Ms. Kwon teaches us. This year we are currently working on our science projects. The science project I'm doing is about : WIll people sleep easier when music is being played? It is something along those lines. I hope you have a fun time browsing through my wikispace! 2nd Quarter Reflection [#4-21]
Some troubles I had was the Lewis and Clark Expedition project. I didn't have much trouble, but except doing the journals. I didn't know what a real hunter would write in his journals. I just tried to imagine me hunting down buffalos and traveling in the woods with my leader. Sometimes the quizzes were hard too, but I get passed them fairly well thanks to the video quizzes.
The Documentary and Movie lessons help me learned the aspects of the contents. The Documentary helps because it provides facts and show what actually happened in the time of year. The Movie Lesson helps me learned more about U.S. History because it helps me picture the event that takes place. When I read a U.S. History book, it is hard for me to remember things and the event.
I enjoyed watching movie lessons, going to computer labs, and doing video quizzes. I like watching movie lessons because i personally just like watching movies, but I mostly like watching the American Wars. I also like going to computer lab because it is fun to watch the music videos Mr. Tran finds us everyday. The thing I like the doing the most are the video quizzes. Video quizzes are fun because it lets me work with my team and to communicate with other people that I probably have not spoken to.

1st Quarter Reflection [#4-21]
The problems I had with Mr. Tran's class was to take notes. It was difficult because in Ms. Ornelas's class, her notes were really easy and different compared to Mr. Tran's. I had to ask a couple of friends that were in Mr. Tran's class for help on the notes. Another difficulty was the documentary lessons beacause I was always slow at taking notes while the video was playing.
The video quizzes helped me a lot on understanding the chapter because it summarizes the whole chapter. Movie lessons also helped me on learning the battle or event that takes place because it helps me imagine the battle in my mind. It makes me feel like im actually in the event that is taking place.
I enjoyed doing video quizzes in Mr. Tran's class because it lets me communicate with other students. It is also fun because it takes teamwork to answer the questions. I also love watching movie lessons and documentary lessons.
